Anoop Kumar Srivastava

Anoop Kumar Srivastava is a former civil servant. A 1981 batch officer, he retired from Indian Administrative Service (IAS) on 31-08-2018. On 5th June 2018, he attended a programme at the Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi organised on the occasion of World Environment Day. The theme of the programme was “Beat Plastic Pollution”. The programme was anchored by Dia Mirza, a goodwill ambassador of UN Environment Programme. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudevan and Erik Solheim, CEO, UN Environment spoke at length about the ramifications of rising plastic pollution and shared their thoughts on how to deal with it. It was on this occasion that Shri Srivastava realised the magnitude of the pollution caused by indiscriminate use of single-use plastics and enormous environmental damage it is causing. He instantly decided to form an NGO to carry out a vigorous campaign against plastic pollution. He motivated his relatives, friends and colleagues to join the organisation and movement. He organised the first meeting of like-minded and willing persons on 1st September 2018. With time, the number grew and subsequently, this group of enthusiastic activists was incorporated as a not-for-profit company under Section 8 of the Companies Act on 19th February 2019.

Shri Srivastava has served in several capacities under the State Government of Meghalaya and the Government of India. At the state level he has contributed in sectors such as Agriculture, Health & Family Welfare, Public Health Engineering, Transport, Tourism, Industry, Power, Information Technology, Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary & Cooperation, etc. At the national capital, he has worked in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance (Revenue), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affair.
