L. H. Thangi Mannen

Mrs. L. H. Thangi Mannen is a retired bureaucrat from Nagaland. She had worked in various capacities in both the Government of India and the Government of Nagaland. She has wide experience in various policies, programs and administrative matters and served in various departments such as Social Welfare, Personnel and administrative Reforms, Tourism, Horticulture, Transport, Sericulture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Industries and Commerce etc. She had been instrumental in organising the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, which has now become a major annual tourism event of the State, and had also conceptualised the Khonoma Green Village project, during her tenure as Secretary, Tourism. As Secretary, Horticulture she initiated the concept and set up the Vegetable Villages in the districts, some of which still continue till date, along with the commercialisation of floriculture and the high-density cultivation of pineapples for optimum benefit.
She is an environmentalist and keen on preserving and sustaining nature and since her retirement she has been active in campaigning against plastic pollution, organising events, cleanups, and raising awareness on the issue. She is also board member of other organisations. She enjoys painting, cooking and gardening.
